Q&A with Padua Franciscan tight end Freddie Borkey
How did the high school football season go overall?
“This football season overall went well. We played a very tough schedule in the regular season. Starting the season 1-4. But we really started to heat up towards the end of the regular season going 4-1 in the last 5. We were able to make it to the regional final but fell short to Holy Name. But overall, I am beyond proud of my team for not giving up on each other while battling through adversity.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I will be out at T3 Performance in Avon continuing the journey I started with everyone out there 6 years ago.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I believe that we are going to pick up right where we left off and end up having another successful season.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Definitely Ursuline or Walsh, they were very tough opponents. But of course, Holy Name has always given us a great game every time we face off.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Christian Lynch from Ursuline. He averaged a little over 10 yards a carry in our game last year. But we are going to have to find a way to not let that happen again.”

Q&A with St. Xavier running back Steven Napier
How did the high school football season go overall?
“My season went well. Our win/loss column did not add up to where we wanted it to be but it was good to have this season under our belts so we know what we need to improve on as a team for this season coming up.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Our team begins lifting January 4th and we will lift all offseason Monday Wednesday Friday at 6am.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I believe we will do well. We have a lot of young talent that will help us a lot and we have some starters returning.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“We have not received our schedule yet but GCLs are always a battle.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Every team has their guy, we will plan accordingly when we receive our schedule.”

Q&A with Washington Courthouse athlete Mason Coffman
How did the high school football season go overall?
“Overall I felt like our team took a deep run in the playoffs and had a lot of talent. I think we did a really good job on both sides of the ball especially in the first part of the season. I think we all know now especially that strength and physicality is the one thing we are missing and the thing that could take us from a round 2 exit to a state run.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“As of now I’m running indoor track and doing a lot of speed training and explosive workouts as well as heavy lifting with our football team. Indoor track season crosses over into outdoor season where I will also be running and something I'm looking forward to.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I believe that our team has much better leaders and a better connection with the classes coming up. Although I think that last year was probably our most talented year ever. I think we won’t have a problem picking up where we left off as long as we get in the weight room this off season.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I feel like Jackson will be the toughest team on our schedule because of the physicality and toughness they bring.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I think Cade Walford is the toughest individual player we will play. He is a 3-year starter with great football knowledge and a really talented football player.”

Q&A with Utica wide receiver Gavin Chinn
How did the high school football season go overall?
“I think the season didn’t go as well as we wanted but it was still a great building season.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plans are to set goals for next year as the rest of the team starts offseason workouts and stays in shape.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel that our team will be hard to beat and good competition in the league next year.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I’m guessing Heath will be our toughest competitor.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I have no clue who we will struggle with next year.”

Q&A with Alliance quarterback Brendan Zurbrugg
How has everything been going football wise as of late?
“Football wise as of lately has been mostly working out in the weight room and throwing. Trying to put on a few pounds and improve myself in the off season.”

Going forward, what do you feel your team can continue to improve on?
“My team and I can continue on stacking days and getting a little better every day. Get as many people in the weight room as we can and keep the numbers up. We had a lot of juniors on our team last year, so we’re making sure we all come back ready to go and work towards achieving our goals.”

Have you been pleased with your performances?
“I feel I have performed well throughout the season and did all I could to help my team win games. But I always need to improve to help take my team to the next level.”

How do you feel about the play of your team?
“This past season my team improved drastically from 2021. We went 3-7 in 2021 and this 2022 season we went 8-3. We played well as a team and when everyone did their job we were hard to stop.”

What are your sporting goals going forward as of now?
“My goals going forward as of now for my football team are to win the conference and win playoff games.”
