......................................................................................................
Q&A with Centerville tight end Bryce Cowgill

What do you feel you have improved on most this off-season?
“This off season I have worked on my catching first and foremost, so my catching ability is what I would say had improved the most.”

How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“I am excited to see what this team can do this year, we are under a little bit different circumstances this year as a team but I think that there won’t be a problem and we are going to have a great season.”

“Lifting, conditioning, pushing trucks, and field work (dline work and routes).”

What do you feel you have improved on most this off-season?
“Reacting and learning not to think about things too much. Speed. Get off and first step. Understanding the game. Flipping hips. Using hands. Being physical on offense and defense. Getting in better shape. Being a leader.”

How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“I think like a lot of years Miamisburg has always had enough talent but always fell short of what we were supposed to be. I think again, we have a lot of talent but the culture has changed a lot with new coaches and better leaders and we will shock the Ohio high school football community.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Springfield will probably be our hardest opponents. Almost all of our league games will be dogfights considering that we play in arguably the toughest conference in division 1 Ohio high school football. Springfield has always been on top not just in the GWOC but in Ohio as well so we know they have a good reputation but that doesn’t scare us and any opponent we go against will know who they played the next morning.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“There’s a lot of good players we face but I’ll probably go with Tyrell Lewis. He’s very athletic and skilled but he also plays a very difficult and one of the most valuable positions on the field so he can hurt you in many different ways. He can run and pass very well as a QB.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I would love to play football in college. I feel that football gives me the best opportunity to live my dream in life and I think it was meant to be. Basketball was my first love but due to circumstances with my height and position and just the way it went it really opened my eyes to football being my way out.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Navy, Kentucky, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Kent State, Toledo, Akron, Virginia Tech, and Youngstown State have all been in contact with me before.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Navy gas been talking to the most and they seem really interested.”

Q&A with Troy offensive lineman Parker Nichols

What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“I finished up track season a few weeks ago, and have been attacking our recent lifting workouts. They’ve been great opportunities not only to get better myself, but to grow closer with my teammates as we push each other to get better each and every day.”

What do you feel you have improved on most this off-season?
“I feel like my strength, footwork, and overall football IQ has vastly improved since last season. Watching film constantly and identifying areas for improvement has been paramount this off-season, as it helped show me what to work on as well as learning more about our scheme and how we can combat the defensive objectives.”

How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“I feel great about our team this season. We have a lot of great talent back, including many all-conference players. We’ve had the opportunity to get many younger guys experience in the last couple seasons, and I feel like it will all mesh together well this year. We all understand our schemes and goals much better going into the year as well.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Butler has good returning talent, but I feel that Piqua will always be our biggest competition. Having lost the last 3 rivalry matchups, it’s not only important for us as seniors to get a victory, but is important to put an end to Piqua’s momentum in the game for the years to come.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Luke Seibert, QB from Butler, is a talented player that I believe will be one of the better offensive players in the MVL this year.”

“I made several visits to schools over the football season, and have visited a few more over the spring for junior days and spring practices.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I am planning on taking another visit to Davidson this summer, and look forward to being back on their campus to see their staff again.”

Have you done any camps this off-season? How do you feel you performed?
“I have not participated in any camps so far this offseason.”

Do you have any plans for camps ahead?
“I am planning on attending a camp at the Air Force Academy this weekend, June 10th, and a camp at the Naval Academy on June 23rd.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“No answer.”

......................................................................................................
Q&A with Perrysburg safety Grey Swanson
How did the high school football season go overall?
“The season overall I think was pretty good. We went 8-4 overall this year. Not the best and we are definitely shooting for higher this upcoming year. We had some pretty big wins this year including Marysville and Whitmer that defined us as a team and the potential we have. I was pretty happy with how the year ended up for me, but I’m more focused on helping my team be the best we can be.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plans now are to continue with our school lifts and offseason workouts. My goal this year is to get faster, because speed kills with this generation of players. The faster you can be, the better it is for you. I plan to stay active and get out on the field as much as I can.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I think our team next year will be really good. We had a lot of younger guys playing varsity last year and we are returning about 16 starters total. Our player development within our program is amazing, we have great coaches from freshman through varsity. As long as our younger players continue to take things seriously and are willing to get better than we will do great things. If we focus up in the offseason and throughout the year I know we can be really good. We have amazing coaches and great team chemistry, so I’m excited for what we have in store for next year.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“We always have a few tough teams on the schedule. The new NLL is very tough with all the new competition joining us like Whitmer and Findlay. I think the toughest game for us will be Whitmer. Not only are they a good team but we match up with them really well so it’s always a close game. We went 1-1 against them last year, losing in the normal season but beating them in the playoffs. They have a lot of great players and coaches who know what they’re talking about, so that game will always be good and a tough one for sure.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“The toughest individual player we will play against is Ryan Montgomery. He did a great job last year of picking our defense apart, it seemed so easy for him and he was so calm in the pocket. We know what we need to change and how to match up better against him and the Findlay team, so that is another matchup I know we are all heavily looking forward to.”

......................................................................................................
Q&A with Grandview Heights running back Henry Ohlinger
How did the high school football season go overall?
“This year was a great improvement from the last few years for the Grandview Heights Bobcats. I am proud to have received 1st team All Ohio honors, 1st team all-district and the 2023 year was a great success.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“For the last few months I have been working out with Hope Fitness Academy on the east side of Columbus as well as workouts with Grandview’s football team. I am also attending camps and showcases including events in Columbus, Cleveland, Indianapolis and Chicago. Later this spring I will start my sophomore track season.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I think that our team will have even more success next season because of the minimal losses from the senior class and the returning players working hard in the off season. We should be set up for a great year.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I think Bexley will be a great game being one of our biggest rivalries. It should be a great game against a talented team in the Bexley Lions.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I think a tough individual to contain will be QB Jackson Frey because of his arm strength and accuracy he can pick apart our already young secondary.”

Q&A with Centerville quarterback Drake Wells

How did the high school football season go overall?
“We went 10-3 overall. We had a lot of returners from the previous season on defense, but our offense was very new. It took 3 games for our offense to really get rolling. After that, our offense just started clicking, and we were driving down the field all the time. In the first drive of week 7, I broke my collarbone. Once that happened, I just had to step in as almost a coach and try to help not only the QB that stepped up, but the offense as a whole to get used to a completely new style of QB. Braylon Newcomb, normally a slot receiver, was the one who came in to QB. He did a great job learning quickly and doing what he does best.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I am currently playing baseball, specifically pitching. I’m also lifting regularly with the baseball team and on my own. I train with QB trainers whenever I get time.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I believe our team is going to be very efficient next season. I feel we all have a gritty attitude, and we all want to just flat out out-work the other guys. We’re going to beat people by making them dread having to play us.”
