Q&A with Newark Catholic running back Mikey Hess
How did/is everything going football wise as of late?
“Football has been going good. We’ve been in the weight room since the day we lost, getting better and building chemistry.”
What do you feel your team can continue to improve on going forward?
“We had a lot of young players last year as well as first year starters on varsity. I think now that they got that first year under their belt it really helps. We also need to just build a stronger chemistry and trust in each other.”
Have you been pleased with your performances?
“I’m never truly satisfied with my performance. I always feel that I can do better.”
How do you feel about the play of your team?
“The play of our team last year was nowhere near where it should be. I truly believe we will be much better this year. I think we have a lot of guys who are hungry and unsatisfied. We are now very comfortable with the playbook and have built up our chemistry. We just have to really harp on the little things.”
What are your sporting goals going forward as of now?
“My sporting goals right now are to be the best teammate I can be for the people around me. As well as be a strong leader. In the future I want to carry on my love for the game and play college football.”
