The Skinny: At 6-foot-5, 305 pounds, Marcus Keeran would draw recruiting attention from college football coaches based on his size alone. But, there’s plenty of potential in what Keeran showed on film. He’s a tenacious blocker that will benefit from some higher level coaching.
Strengths: His size allows him to overpower opponents…sticks with his blocks and is always moving, looking for another target…uses an adequate base when addressing a defender.
Areas for Improvement: While Keeran simply overpowers his high school opponents, he’ll have to refine his technique to have success at the next level…tends to short-arm his blocks…allows his pad level to get too high at times…fails to bend at the knees to drive into and under his opponents…must watch his balance.
Outlook: Keeran has drawn recruiting attention from dozens of major college football coaches. Because he plays at a smaller school, many of those coaches will want to see him at camp before extending an offer. It will be up to Keeran to perform well enough to earn an opportunity to play at a major college program.
Because of his size, mid-major programs likely will be the first to extend to Keeran such an opportunity. With some dedication and commitment to improving his technique, starting with his footwork and ability to drive an opponent using his upper and lower body, Keeran could become a standout offensive lineman if given the chance.
